Dr. Naveen Mehrotra

MEDICAL DIRECTOR MD, MPH

Dr. Naveen Mehrotra is a pediatrician in private practice and an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Pediatrics at Rutgers – Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and the Assistant Chief of Pediatrics at the JFK Medical Center in Edison, NJ. Practicing in Central New Jersey with one of the highest concentrations of South Asians, Dr. Mehrotra is dedicated to improving the health of South Asians, particularly those who have recently immigrated. With a lack of awareness in areas such as disease prevention within the community, Dr. Mehrotra helped found the SKN Foundation a community based non-profit organization to address these needs at a grassroots level. This community based organization provides an innovative way to eliminate health disparities. SCOPE (Special Needs Community Outreach Program for Empowerment (SCOPE) is one such program of SKN that works to bring families with children of Special Needs together. Mentored by Dr. Naveen Mehrotra, My Whole Child, USA is an effort to bring all children related health information under one umbrella

Hemie Gupta

MANAGING DIRECTOR

Hemie Gupta is a graduate of the New York University with a medical background in dentistry from the United States. She moved to India 15 years ago for personal reasons and since then has had extensive experience in management of various business ventures in this country. Over the last two years after the birth of her daughter, she has developed a keen interest in working on child health issues.

She became intricately involved with and led the renovation and revitalization of the Child Development Center at the Sunderlal Jain Hospital in Delhi, India along with the Rotary Club and Dr. Mehrotra. She is currently working in the capacity of Managing Director to develop the My Whole Child Center for Special Needs in Delhi as a patient centered medical home for children with special needs.

Dr. Jane Styer-Acevedo

PT, DPT, C/NDT

Jane Styer-Acevedo, PT, DPT, C/NDT is Senior Adjunct Faculty at Arcadia University, teaching in the Physical Therapy Department, and maintains a clinical practice, treating individuals through the lifespan with neurological challenges. She is a master clinician in the areas of pediatrics, neurology, and therapeutic aquatics and has been teaching continuing education workshops, nationally and internationally since 1983. Jane’s scope of teaching includes aquatic and “land-based” courses in Australia, Europe, Asia, India, Africa, and North, Central, and South America. She is currently Chair of the Neuro-Developmental Treatment Association (NDTA) Instructor Group and an Active Pediatric Coordinator Instructor for the NDTA, teaching continuing education courses of varying lengths related to the NDT Practice Model. Jane excels in the problem-based approach to promoting functional shifts for an individual through therapeutic intervention from the acute phase, through rehabilitation, and community entry or re-entry towards life long participation, health and fitness.

Theresse McDermott-Winter

CScD, CCC-SLP, C/NDT

Therese McDermott- Winter, CScD, CCC-SLP, C/NDT, is a Speech/Language Pathologist with over 30 years of experience specializing in the assessment and treatment of infants and children with neuromotor feeding/swallowing, speech production disorders and language impairments associated to their neurological diagnosis. Therese is a certified Advanced Speech Instructor in Neuro-Developmental Treatment (NDT), assisting and teaching in many courses/seminars nationally and internationally. These include the NDTA Pediatric Certification and Baby Courses, as well as short courses covering topics of NDT, pediatric feeding/swallowing and treatment of the rib cage for functional improvement in respiration/phonation. Currently in private practice, she enjoys the opportunity for working with children and their families in their home environments.

Kathleen Miller Skomorucha

OTR/L, C/NDT

Kathleen Miller-Skomorucha, OTR/L, C/NDT is a Senior Clinician at Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Delaware where she maintains a robust clinical practice working with children with neuromusculoskeletal and neurosensory challenges from infancy through young adulthood. She actively maintains a certificate in the Neurodevelopmental Treatment Practice Model (NDT), using this specialty in practice to promote functional shifts in children of all levels of medical complexity. She works as a clinical lead of a dynamic interdisciplinary team of clinicians and family members who work to meet the needs of children with a wide range of medical and therapeutic needs. She serves as a mentor to colleagues, within the discipline of occupational therapy and outside of it, seeking to create a holistic approach to treatment of the child with congenital or acquired brain injury. Kathleen has co-authored two book chapters detailing the therapeutic management of children and youth with cerebral palsy. She has recently co-presented nationally on topics related to the effectiveness of using an interdisciplinary approach to therapy in working with children with mild acquired brain injury. She lives in Pennsylvania with her husband and three young children.

Bhakti Anand

Special Educator

Bhakti Anand has done her D.Ed in Special Education from the National Institute for the Empowerment of Person with Intellectual Disability, Secunderabad, Telangana. She has also completed Bachelors in social work from IGNOU. She has been working with kids with ASD, ADHD, ID, Down syndrome, and LD. Apart from this, she has also been trained by the Rehabilitation Concil of India. Bhakti uses multi-sensory approaches to teach her students and is a passionate teacher. She is very well versed in the use of different types of techniques for enhancing children’s education.

Ujjaini Sen

Psychologist and Play, Language Therapist

Ujjaini Sen is a psychologist and has done her graduation from Delhi University and masters in psychology from Ambedkar University. She has worked with toddlers and school going kids and has been in practice since 2015. She uses Play as a medium to enhance language, communication. Kids find it fun to participate in the sessions. She loves working with toddlers and engaging in sensory and exploratory play with them. She has participated in the training workshop which aims at modifying challenging behaviour. and has extensively used behaviour modification as well as reinforcement based learning using the principal of applied behaviour analysis. She also has experience helping the younger kids with academic issues as well as special education concern.

Sanjana Sarin

Psychologist

Sanjana Sarin is a counseling psychologist who has completed her Bachelor’s and Master’s in psychology (specialization in clinical psychology) from the University of Delhi. During this time she has received two prestigious academic awards. Throughout her education, she has completed several internships in schools, allowing her to work closely with children. Sanjana is passionate about mental health awareness and creating a safe space of empathy and understanding.

Sana Naaz

Sana Naaz has completed her graduation in Occupational Therapy from Jamia Hamdard University, New Delhi. She has experience working in several therapy centers like Sankalp and Proactive Child Care. She has worked intensively with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Down Syndrome, global developmental delay, and cerebral palsy. She has extensive knowledge of behavior modification. She also has experience in different areas while working in hospital settings. She is a determined, proactive, and hard-working neuro-occupational therapist who has good interpersonal skills to provide for finer quality in children’s care with their families.

Saman Gilani

Occupational therapist

Has completed her graduation from Jamia Hamdard. As an OT, she developed a strong interest in sensory & motor-based interventions, also worked in an early intervention setting with children with Neuro-developmental disorders like Cerebral palsy, Autism, ADHD, Developmental delays, gross & fine motor delays, visual motor perceptual difficulties, and sensory processing differences. During her free time, she loves to do hiking, camping, and trail running. Also passionate about the benefits of play in an outdoor natural environment, has an experience of more than 2 years. By this profession she keen to help people and improve their quality of life. She always starts her therapy session by educating the patient and their caretaker about the condition and duration of time to see any growth. She truly believes in blending her work with nature.
